Ewan was up bright and early to meet guests in Salen for a 6-10am otter photo workshop. Red-breasted mergansers were seen along the sea loch, along with oystercatchers and chicks and greylag geese with broods of goslings. After a short spell of perseverance, we spotted a female otter foraging along the coast and got in position to watch the animal along with position ourselves for some photo opportunities. The otter spent about 30 minutes sleeping on an exposed rock before undertaking another feeding session, providing some lovely, varied views of the animal.

Klay provided a Mull Nature Explorer and the highlight was most definitely a wt eagle attempting to to steal food from an otter! (kleptoparasitism). The guests watched on as the eagle was unsuccessful on one attempt. Other tour highlights included short-eared owl, hen harrier, golden eagle and more marsh fritillaries. A very productive Mull Nature Explorer tour to finish off another week of guiding!
