Rain, rain go away..
A wet day but thankfully a light breeze. Theo's tour started in style with great views of an Otter and her sizable cub swimming ashore from a fair distance, before play fighting and preening each other on a small offshore reef and drinking from a freshwater burn further up the shore, all in the pouring rain... A gap in the rain at our next stop we had brief views of another Otter and cub, this time a very small cub, not old at all. They headed ashore and out of view all too q

Sunny Ardnamurchan
A bright but breezy day to start before wind got up and cloud came in with a little rain. Theo and his group headed over to Ardnamurchan on the ferry crossing we had good numbers of Manx Shearwaters, Guillemots, Razorbills, Shags, Kittiwakes and a few Gannets. A single Common Dolphin leapt from the water a little distantly but didn't show again. Arriving at Kilchoan we spotted 2 White-tailed Eagles on the near hill side being harassed by Ravens. Onto our next stop we had good

Win some and lose some!
Ewan checked a few Golden Eagle territories on Friday, and it's at this time of the year that it is with negative emotions to see both adult birds on the wing for a prolonged period of time. Pictured is the female bird and the male is just of frame, indicating a failed breeding attempt for this pair for the fourth time in five years sadly. On Thursday Klay had two half day private tours and one of the highlights was seeing golden eagles mating! Another sighting of note was 7

First Cuckoo and Osprey!
Not as much rain as originally forcast this week but still slightly unsettled and a good wind blowing and gusting! It was warm on Tuesday, reaching 15 degrees, compared with the 2 degrees we got only a few days earlier! Klay had a tour on Tuesday and managed to get some moderate views of both eagle species and hen harriers. The eagles are sitting tight on their goose sized eggs right now so a bit tricker to spot at this critical time. Common Sandpiper on the shoreline of Loch

Merlin Madness!
Theo and Klay both had Mull Nature Explorers today, meeting the guests in Tobermory. It was quite a cold wind but mainly dry, which was a welcome change! WT Eagles were showing well on both tours and also views of Golden Eagles in different capacities. One of the highlights was this stunning male Merlin pictured! This is the ‘April spike’ with Merlins passing through the island on their way to more northern breeding grounds. Otters were seen on both tours, actively feeding in

Friday 3rd April
Light breeze and bright to start and then the rain came in. Theo picked up his family private tour and headed straight for the coast finding a pair of WTE's, the female on the nest and the male off-duty bird sat in the tree above showing well. Offshore there were Great-northern Divers and a few Harbour Seals. Heading for a sea loch on our drive around we had Wheatears, Lapwing, Curlews, Eiders, Black Guillemot, Common Guillemot, R-B Mergansers, a brief flyby Sand Martin and a

Thursday 2nd April
A bright but breezy morning. Theo picked up his guests and headed straight for the sea lochs seeing a few Harbour Seals on the way and Fallow Deer in the woods. There was a fine Red Deer stag up on the hill at the first stop and an adult WTE soared distantly over the hills. We spotted a dog Otter from the van on the shore so got out and watched it devouring a large Eel!, whilst 2 White-tailed Eagles were our fishing, 1 landed its catch and ate it out on the reef. A short way

Wednesday 1st April
A misty and rainy start to the day but brightened into a lovely but breezy afternoon. Theo picked up his group and headed for the more sheltered east of the island. A few spots along the way yielded little noteworthy due to the heavy rain, March deluge into April showers here we go! Heading for coastal habitats we found a large herd of 31 Whooper Swans resting up grounded by the weather followed by 2 Adult Whooper later on as well as a few Great-northern Divers, Eiders, R-B

Tuesday 31st March
A misty and cloudy day mostly with light showers and bright spells. Theo's tour: Theo picked up his private tour group and headed straight for a WTE territory. We had good scope views straight away of the female sat on her nest. A Harbour Seal was on an offshore skerry, a favourite for the kids in the group. Heading for coastal habitat we were watching a female Otter shortly later fishing tight against the shore catching smaller fish before we parked up and had great close vi

Nomad Eagles everywhere
A moody sky with odd showers but stayed windy all day. Ferry issues meant we were down a few guests sadly, but we headed out straight to the sea lochs for low tide. Theo instantly found a an Otter with her big cub heading out to feed, taking shelter from a squall, we lost them for a while till they appeared in front of us giving great scope views rolling around playing on the reef. We also saw G-N Divers and a Slavonian Grebe here. Further down we saw a Wheatear and a close f

Has spring finally sprung?
A superb sunny day with a light breeze. Theo's first tour of the season back on Mull. He started more or less where he left of with an Adult White-tailed Eagle perched up in the conifers with a Sparrowhawk and several Buzzards there too, before covering more coastal habitats, swiftly finding another pair of adult White-tailed Eagles which were very vocal and copulated in front of us! We had a distant Golden Eagle behind us as well as a Grey Seal and a few Harbour Seals, Great

Love is in the Air
Rain hammering down at first light and a tricky forecast so we provided a shorter 4 hour tour today. The guests were from Newcastle and Vancouver as we headed out to explore this magical island! We got onto two WT Eagles at our first stop, showing strong pair bonding with some close interactions. We then focussed on the coast and saw GN Divers, Slavonian Grebes and RB Mergansers. Further north we had a stunning male Hen Harrier before a superb overhead WT Eagles view! Harbour
