On Monday we provided two Mull Nature Explorer tours, meeting the guests in Tobermory. It appeared to be a very settled high pressure spell for the week ahead and highs of 18 degrees, so the short and shades were out along with the sun lotion!

Ewan and group had great views of a golden eagle actively hunting in the heather! It may have been a field vole but even a cuckoo, which was nearby the area! An adult white-tailed eagle was also seen soaring to the east.

Whimbrels were seen in multiple locations throughout the day as we all enjoyed their beautiful fluty calls.

Afternoon highlight included hen harriers and slow worms on the northern moors.

On Tuesday, Jack and group headed off to Ardnamurchan for the day. It was glorious sunshine on the wild west and some of the sightings included minke whale and golden eagles. Harbour porpoises were seen on the ferry crossing as well.

Wednesday was a Mull Nature Explorer with Klay running a Mull Wilderness Explorer, walking tour. Ewan and group headed straight for the coastal habitats and managed to see and otter after a short time persevering. Hen harriers were the highlight of the afternoon, with three separate encounters. A white-tailed eagle was also seen soaring high in the sky but just a brief golden eagle view managed during the tour.

On Thursday, Ewan had a private 4-hour tour and a 7:50 pick up in Dervaig before heading to the SE of the island and a big focus on otters. We managed to see three otters during the morning including a mother with a tiny cub, that may be newly emerged from the natal holt, half the size of mum and possibly 3-4 months old!

On Friday, Ewan had a full day private tour with a family, picking them up from Craignure. Black-throated Diver in summer plumage in SE Mull and also 2 common dolphins in a sea loch, that possibly are in poorer condition going off the behaviour. An otter was also seen along with a few cuckoos. A focus on raptors in the afternoon and we managed to see a wt eagle and a golden eagle with some patience.

On Sunday, Ewan had a private family 4 hour tour. A bit cooler and more overcast. Otters were the star of the show with five separate animals during the morning. A pair of Twite was nice to see along with a mountain hare.

An adult golden eagle soaring over the moors was a nice highlight to finish.
