ECO-TOURISM: YOU'RE CONTRIBUTION
As visitors to Mull here are some ways you can positively contribute in your time here:
Birdtrack
Ewan is the regional co-ordinator for Birdtrack here in North Argyll including Mull and we at NatureMull are asking you to record the birds you see on Mull while you're out enjoying yourselves!
Birdtrack is a simple app built by the BTO to allow you as bird/wildlife watchers to contribute your sightings.
For example: You're out on a wander round Ardura woodland in May listening and looking for songbirds and you want to record your sightings. Bring up the app on your phone and start a checklist, it will then start a list and you can simply add the species you see/hear and then once finished submit it with the correct location and the data you have submitted goes to the BTO and contributes towards species counts and number of singing birds in breeding season in this example. How simple is that!
Beach Clean
Everyone wants to see a pretty clean beach when they visit any beach so on your visits to our beaches keep an eye out for any litter even anything small and pick it up and take it home/bin it and you've done your bit.
Beach cleaning events are now a near monthly event on Mull and are always keen for volunteers to join and assist in cleaning our shores.

HWDT Whaletrack
The Hebridean Whale and Dolphin Trust (HWDT) is a charity based here on Mull in Tobermory and they have a fantastic citizen science project called Whaletrack and they are asking for your sightings!
Whaletrack is a simple easy to use mobile phone app, as well as posting your own sightings you can view a sightings map of all confirmed recent sightings and they have a guide of the species you are likely to see around Mull.
Example:
You're visiting Mull and travelling across on the ferry you see a pod of Common Dolphins, an exciting sighting! You go on your already download Whaletrack app and report a sighting. Enter in the required fields and submit, you have contributed to the growing network of sightings the HWDT has!

Across the island from Tobermory to Ffionnphort, we have a wide array of brilliant cafe's, restaurants and shops where you can sample both local produce and fan favourites.
So when visiting the island remember to buy local and support our businesses.
Work Parties
Do you want to contribute to Mull's habitats and environment whilst on the island?
The Ardura Community Forest (MICT) run work parties and welcome you as volunteers for some practical conservation in the form of pulling non-native Sitka Spruce, Cutting Rhododendron and maybe more rewardingly, Tree planting!
