Both Ewan and Klay started on the south side of the island on the Mull Nature Explorer tours today.
Klay had a raptor packed day, with good views of 2 white tailed eagles to start the morning off and there was some wonderful news, with Klay spotting a golden eagle chick being fed by an adult bird!

Ewan also managed to join in on the raptor fun, with a male white tailed eagle perched proudly in the conifers ! At the same spot the guests were treated to a cuckoo in flight, which could be one of the last as they are starting to leave the moors now.
Ewan continued to another sea loch and had two otters which the guests were thrilled to see also grey and harbour seals were at the loch !
Klay had some brilliant coastal birds also at a sea loch as-well as black guillemot, gannets, great-northern diver, red breasted merganser, redshank, curlew and finally ringed plovers.

Both tours managed to see the elusive hen harrier quartering in their typical ‘v’ shaped flight pattern ! Ewans tour managed to see a male hen harrier, which is referred to as a grey ghost due to their grey plumage.
Klay carried on with his raptor packed day with the guests and saw 4 short eared owls hunting which seemed to be actively feeding young and 2 guests were delighted to see and hear their first cuckoo ever and this was potentially the same bird Ewan located earlier!

Overall two very enjoyable tours with lots of guests target species seen, in cold temperatures as low as 8 degrees and moderate westerly winds with squally showers throughout the day !
