Bright skies and calm air made for ideal walking conditions on Mull today.

A quick stop on our way to the coast brought an early treat — a distant Otter feeding in the Sound, watched over by two White-tailed Eagles perched out on a rocky reef.

We began our coastal walk with a lovely mix of waders and a Red-throated Diver just offshore. The calm conditions made spotting easy, and before long, Harbour Porpoise and Harbour Seals appeared, moving gracefully through the still waters.

The highlight of the morning came as an Otter surfaced close by, feeding constantly before hauling out to reveal a freshly caught Scorpionfish — an incredible moment to witness!

In the afternoon, we headed inland for our moorland walk and were greeted by the sights and sounds of the Red Deer rut. A large group of stags and hinds filled the glen, while a female Hen Harrier quartered low across the heather. Further along, a Golden Eagle perched proudly on a ridgeline, mobbed by ravens, with a male Hen Harrier drifting high above.

Our final stop of the day brought a fitting finale — two beautiful White-tailed Eagles perched in the trees and a Dipper bobbing on the river, a perfect end to a day rich with wildlife and wild scenery.
