Jack was on a private tour with a family today, while Klay was providing a mull nature explorer trip!

Klay’s tour started off wonderfully, with two white-tailed eagles perched high in the trees, before one bird started flying, so the guests could really see the size of these magnificent eagles soaring the skies, as it returned to the nest to warm the chicks.

While driving around the sea loch, the tour had excellent views of a summer plumage, great northern diver . Also on the sea loch there was plenty of grey seals , ringed plover , lapwings and the tour had a close view of a snipe . Continuing driving around the sea loch , to be greeted with a hunting golden eagle for a few moments before dropping out of view .

Then the tour settled down for some lunch , to be joined by yet another golden eagle , who was also on a prey item eating its lunch, which was good comedic timing !

After lunch, the group then headed to the shore where they were treated to some brilliant otter views on the shoreline, hunting and bringing in an eel and a flatfish with a great north diver in the background.

The eagle action was a constant throughout the day, as white tailed eagles parents brought back a small prey item to the nest. Both birds constantly taking to the wing, being irritated by some buzzards.

Finally, to end a spectacular day, with a male hen harrier showing well on the moors and with the sunny intervals today there were some great invertebrates, four spotted chasers, golden ringed dragonfly, a green tiger beetle and a green hairstreak .

On Jack’s private tour, they ticked off all the big three with some lovely golden eagles with food dropped off by a male. A pair of white tailed eagles and grey seals at the sea loch and then a big dog otter sleeping on a small island , just off the coast !

Two fantastic tours with an abundance of wildlife sightings in the sunshine and moderate west winds.
