Ewan was on tour today and focused the tour in the north of Mull, where the morning started off with moderate winds and a pleasant temperature.
To start the day off the team had amazing views of two types of reptiles a female adder and slow worm, this was some of the guest's first time seeing reptiles in the UK so they were overjoyed! In the distance at the reptile spot, Ewan spotted a distant golden eagle soaring over the glen.
The tour then visited a nearby loch, where there was a stunning full summer plumage dunlin, which is unusual for this time of year ! In addition to this, there was also some interesting behaviour, with a shelduck chasing a mallard.
Now touring to the moors, the group watched a cuckoo being harassed by meadow pipits and watched some whinchats posing and calling.

Then at the toilet break of all places, Ewan heard squeaking noises and the guest walked quietly to the shore to find two otters, a mum and cub showing beautiful , playing with each other. The guests were thrilled as this was the target species for many on the trip !
Keeping the momentum going, to finish the day the team headed to a sea loch and on the way spotted a male hen harrier hunting next to the car ! Arriving at the sea loch, after a short wait patience paid off and the tour was rewarded, with a white tailed eagle flying over head soaring, in the strong winds efficiently flying.
A huge variety of reptiles, birds and mammals seen on today’s tour in pleasant conditions.
