There were 3 Mull Nature Explorers today, Ewan and Jack and Ben’s first solo tour! Bens and Jacks tour were focused on the south of the Island.

Ben started the day at Salen shipwrecks to get some sophisticated, moody photos with the overcast weather really made the ships look haunted and was a great starting point as the guests have never been to mull !

Also, an Irish hare that has been hanging around in the middle of the island now quite consistently and is always a thrilling start for the day.

Then had two white tailed eagles perched close together on separate pine trees. These huge eagles are the largest in Europe and gave great flight views and the guests were thrilled to have such close views and the scope gave the extra detail.

After a great display from the eagles we moved around the loch keeping our eyes open for otters but no sign of them. But we made it to a golden eagle nest, and it was not a long wait until an appearance from one of the adults !

An amazing golden eagle swooped down and landed on the nest with some small prey before flying off, circling above the cliffs again ! Just a magical experience.

While at the golden eagle's nest, the guest was brilliant at finding botany, so the guests found some round-leaved sundew with a beetle in and St John’s Wort in flower.

So both eagles and we were just entering the afternoon. We then entered some incredible mountainous terrain, where more pictures were taken off the unbelievable landscape and curlews seemed to be everywhere with their incredible calls!

After the mountains, there was a field with both peacocks and some large velvet stags. Quite the mix, but again made some great photo opportunities and the guests were happily togging away! And to finish off the day two hen harriers briefly while stopped at a lay by to end a superb day in the south of Mull and my very first tour, so thank you for the amazing time and can’t wait to do more!
